Speed up weight loss with proper sleep
Losing weight is a difficult task, but not impossible. There are many proved ways to lose weight, yet people struggle a lot to get rid of those extra pounds. If you are following a good diet, proper exercise, and still failing to lose weight, then you might need to spend an extra hour or two sleeping.
Weight loss experts feel that the lack of sleep could slow down the speed of weight loss. According to them, the lack of proper sleep is the main reason why many people are not losing weight despite being on a self driven or a paid weight loss program.
Sleep is very critical in weight loss, as the body burns its fat during the resting period. The fat burning process will be at its peak while you sleep, so you must spare a good time for sleep.
Getting an eight hour sleep on a regular basis is pretty difficult in the current speedy generation. However, if you want to lose weight, and if you are struggling to do it, you have to make sure you are sleeping for at least eight hours a day.
“If you are trying to lose weight, you not only should concentrate on the diet and exercise, but also on things like proper rest and good lifestyle. These little things can make a big difference,” said Ashmit Patel, a London based physio and weight loss expert.

The women who use contraceptive pills remember the gist of an emotional event, while the ones who don’t use the pills will retain more details and information.
Shawn Nielsen, one of the researchers has said, “”What’s most exciting about this study is that it shows use of hormonal contraception alters memory.”
Millions of women across the globe use the birth control pills. If you are one of them, you must know more details about the pills you are using including the important information like the one that’s furnished in this study.
Thalassemia patients transfused with HIV infected blood in India
As many as 23 thalassemic kids from the Junagadh district in Gujarat state were tested HIV positive in last one year because of the transfusion of the HIV infected blood. There are about 100 thalassemic patients in the district who regularly visit the civil hospital for blood transfusion. All of them visit the hospital just for the transfusion process, and most of the times they bring the blood with them.
The parents or the relatives of these kids are bringing the blood from the various blood banks in the town. Doctors at the civil hospital said that blood banks need to be much more careful in screening the donors’ blood.
They also pointed out at the lack of high end HIV screening equipment in the district which is making it difficult for the local banks to screen the donated blood for HIV.
A doctor from the civil hospital said, “Blood banks screen for HIV but many times, if the blood donor is in the ‘window period’, it is difficult to detect the HIV virus and the risk remains.”
The Red Cross society members from the state of Gujarat said the state lacks some advanced HIV tests such as Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT), and urged the doctors and healthcare professionals to save the remaining kids from HIV.
Thalassemia is a genetic disorder in which the body forms an abnormal hemoglobin compound which increases the rate of destruction of red blood cells, causing a condition called anemia.
The Thalassemia patients need to undergo a periodic blood transfusion, without which they can’t survive for too long.
Natural herbal products do have side effects too
Being natural will not make herbal products 100% safe to use. In fact, these herbal remedies too have side effects just like the conventional medicines. A new research conducted at University of Leeds, United Kingdom, has shown the world some interesting facts about the safety of natural medicine.
According to the findings, the natural herbal products such as garlic, echinacea, St. John’s wort, Asian ginseng and ginkgo are not 100% safe to use.
These herbal products cam interfere with the other drugs you take. Most importantly, these natural herbal products are not licensed, and the manufacturers are not showing any safety information on the products.
Some herbal products and possible side effects
St John’s wort – It’s a herbal product but it can significantly reduce the effectiveness of the contraceptive pills. Also, St John’s wort interferes with Warfarin, which is prescribed to treat blood clots.
Asian ginseng – It’s not a good product to be used by the diabetic patients.
Echinacea and ginkgo – Watch out for the allergic reactions.
Garlic – It’s capable of making the blood thinner, and it’s one herbal product that HIV patients needs to avoid. Garlic can interfere with some of the drugs that were prescribed for HIV.
The researchers also tested different herbal products, which are available at leading health food stores. Upon checking, they found 93% of the products unlicensed. The remaining 13% of the products are licensed, and showing a label of basic safety information.
“Consumers need reliable and comprehensive information when buying herbal remedies,” said Theo Rayner, who led this research.

Here is some good news for the ever increasing over weight community! A new research has linked sex to the weight loss. The intense sexual activity can burn maximum calories, while even the kissing for some extent of time has a significant effect.

Acai berries and other super foods credibility questioned again
Acai berries are long known for their health benefits, especially the weight loss. Acai berry weight loss has gained such popularity, that it has emerged as a super easy way to lose weight among the obese people. Millions of people have used acai berries over the past few years, and it has grown into a multimillion industry and yielded great profits for the sellers! But the credibility of the superfruits like acai berries is always under a debate. Till the date, there’s no strong scientific research that confirms the ‘magical’ powers of super fruits.
A recent claim of the sellers about the super fruits being effective against cancer caught the attention of the many health conscious people. There’s a strong buzz in the internet over the cancer preventing ability of the fruits like pomegranates, acai berries and blueberries. Now the healthcare experts are questioning the credibility of these claims. According to them, there’s no scientific research or documentation that can prove the anti cancer properties of super fruits. David Euhus, a leading cancer researcher, from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, US, has said that the antioxidants present in the superfruits are least effective against cancer. Instead, he suggested people to cut the over intake of sugars, and do regular exercise to minimize the risk of cancer.
Too much fruit juice is bad for your health
Drinking fruit juices regularly is considered as a good and healhty practice througout the world. But according to the new study, people who consume fruit jucies on a regular basis are more likely to develop health complications than doing good for their health!
The results of a couple of studies have shown that sugar levels in fruit juice could give people “sweet tooth”. According to the researchers, prolonged and regular drinking of fruit juice makes people to carve for high calorie food.
The first of the two studies, conducted by a research team from Bangor University, North Wales, has found that even the freshly squeezed fruit juice contains considerable amount of sugar . According to them, the squeezing process of the fruits will concentrate the sugar that increases the sweetness.
The findings of the second study is same as well. The researchers who conducted this study have suggested people to quit the over consumption of fruit juices. Instead, they suggested dry fruits, whole fruits and vegetables over juices.
Dr. Hans Peter Kubis, who led one of the studies, has said that the fruit juices should be taken off the five a day recommendations, as the regular consumption of juices leads to sweet tooth.
He said, “I’d question the wisdom of including fruit juice in the five-a-day message. The problem is people often substitute them for real fruit which is a mistake.”
Keeping the Body in Good Health
Good health-Nearly everyone wants it. Good health is the state or condition of keeping the body in good order. It means eating the right kinds of foods, getting the proper rest and avoiding vices that can endanger one’s health or even shorten one’s life.
Each person may have different perspective how to keep a good health. Some would do it the healthy way like proper diets, exercise, etc. or some wants it the fastest way through surgical procedures like tummy tuck liposuction, arm, and thigh.
There is no question that regularly maintaining good health is important. Good health means that a person is not likely to get sick as often as people who do not have good health, and in many cases, good health has even led to longevity of life; some have lived to be 100 and beyond, and often they contribute their longevity to their maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
There are various risks that can endanger one’s health. For instance, smoking has been a well-known health risk, as well as the misuse of drugs for sensual pleasure and mind-altering purposes and overindulging in food and alcohol. Another crucial health risk factor is a sexually promiscuous lifestyle, which can definitely contribute the shortness of life.
There are ten tips to consider in keeping the body in good health:
-Avoid the use of tobacco, whether by means of smoking it or chewing it
-Do not overindulge in the use of alcohol beverages. Alcohol abuse can lead to kidney and liver failure. If possible, it might be best not to consume such beverages at all
-Avoid gluttony. Gluttony affects the heart and can contribute to obesity (not that gluttony alone is a sole factor, but it certainly cannot be out-ruled either)
-Avoid being stressful. Stress is a major killer of many. Try not to be unduly concerned about things you cannot change and do the best you can with things you can change
-Get plenty of rest. Sleeplessness can lead to shortness of life
-Avoid the use of dangerous drugs, such as marijuana, cocaine, heroin and the like
-Get plenty of exercise
-Maintain a healthy and wholesome sex life
-Eat healthy foods. Avoid foods particularly high in cholesterol
-Get to bed early at night and be an early riser
These are among some of the things that some people are doing to maintain good health. Another thing that others are doing are getting a liposuction tummy, commonly called a “tummy tuck”, in which fat is taken from certain parts of their body and grafted in with others to make them appear smoother and softer.
Liposuction tummy has become the popular health trend for some today. The liposuction costs can be quite challenging for some; it is generally a procedure that is not cheap, unless a cheaper alternative can be found, but then again, this is the price of liposuction that one has to be willing to pay.
Good health-whether by the previous-mentioned ways or by liposuction is a choice that each health-conscious individual will have to make.
Dark chocolate for weight loss?
Chocolate is not quite connected to weight loss by anyway till now. In fact, most people who are on a weight loss mission tend to avoid chocolates. To be frank, a lot of weight loss trainers advice their followers not to eat chocolate. It’s a general conception that people do consider chocolate as unhealthy sugary stuff which could cause some health issues.
But the new findings in a recent research book have something else to say! Lily Stojanovska, a researcher from Victoria University explained several benefits of chocolate in her book “The chocolate diet”.
According to her, chocolate can help body to burn its fat quickly, control appetite and provide lots of antioxidants.
Few benefits of chocolates,
• Dark chocolate consists of ‘epicatechin’ antioxidant which is known for fat burning ability.
• Chocolate can suppress appetite effectively.
• Alkaloid themobromine in chocolate increases muscle strength.
• Chocolate can effectively control blood pressure by widening blood vessels.
• Chocolate consists of high amount of antioxidants.
(By chocolate, researchers mean the original dark chocolate that normally contains about 70 to 80% cocoa.)
Cocoa is good for health in many ways. It’s helpful in minimizing the stroke risk, controlling depression and mood related disorders etc. Lily also added a 14 day chocolate diet plan to her book.
A limited consumption of chocolate is good for health. And coming to the chocolate, the bitter the chocolate, the better it is!
