Brown rice is a better diet solution for Diabetes


Diabetes patients find a lot of difficulty in finding a right diet. Most of the diabetic patients depend on white rice in many countries where the white rice is a staple food. In recent years, the usage of white in America has increased a lot compared to that of few decades ago.

White rice is known for its high carbohydrates, and often diabetic patients are advised to consume it less. Brown rice, though not as famous of white in daily food said to suit diabetic patients more than white rice.

A study conducted on white rice and brown rice recently in Harvard School of Public Health says brown rice can reduce the risk of diabetes, where as the white increases the diabetes risk significantly.

This study show 2 or more servings of brown rice in a week can help reduce the type 2 diabetes. And interestingly, it revealed that 5 or more serving of white rice per week will increase the risk of diabetes by 36%.

“Rice consumption in the U.S. has dramatically increased in recent decades. We believe replacing white rice and other refined grains with whole grains, including brown rice, would lower the risk of type 2 diabetes.” Sun quoted in a recent news release.
