Belviq, a diet pill, to be marketed by Arena Pharmaceuticals, has got the FDA’s approval as a prescription weight loss drug. Belviq has become the first prescription weight loss drug to get FDA approval in 13 years.
Belviq works along with diet and exercise to help people lose weight. Belviq works directly on the brain, and controls the appetite. Belviq affects the “Serotonin 2C Receptor”, a part of the brain that’s known for regulating appetite
Who can use Belviq?
- Obese people (People with BMI over 30)
- Overweight people (People with BMI over 27)
- People with weight related health conditions (High blood pressure, Diabetes or High Cholesterol)
Belviq diet pill should not be used during pregnancy.
The manufacturers of Belviq were successfully managed to convince the FDA about its safety, and has presented them with the lots of clinical trial and research reports over the past few years.
It took nearly 13 years for FDA to approve a diet pill, as they continuously turned down many applications citing safety reasons and side effects.
Diet Pill Belviq works exactly the same way as the 90’s notorious weight loss drug “Fen Phen”, i.e. regulating the appetite by affecting “Serotonin 2C Receptor”.
