Heart strokes on rise in kids and teens
Heart stroke is one of the major causes of death for the millions of people across the world. There are plenty of factors such as aging, overweight, high cholesterol, high blood pressure that contribute to the heart disease. Heart stroke is something that’s related to the seniors, but nowadays people of all age groups including the kids and teens are suffering cardiac arrests.
According to a recent study conducted in the United States, there’s a tremendous increase in the percentage of younger people who are falling for the heart diseases, especially the stroke.
Another interesting point is, the rate of the heart stroke in the seniors and the aged people is declining over the past two decades. But for the teens and the young adults, the rate is alarmingly climbing up.
The main reasons for the stroke among the younger people as observed by the doctors are,
- Obesity and high levels of cholesterol
- Lack of nutritious and healthy diet
- High calorie and high fat foods
- Lack of physical activity
- Heavy alcohol consumption
- Bad lifestyle and drug addiction
George Lee Schwamm, MD, Vice Chair of Neurology at Massachusetts, said “Seeing this in a young population really underscores the need for adopting and maintaining healthy lifestyles from the time they are very young.”
